The Table
Take a look at these beautifully sliced 6/4 oak slabs. This father and daughter project incorporated more than time itself would care. It has that ultimate touch of love. And this is what Brittany P says,
I wanted to make a table with my Dad from reclaimed wood. For months I searched for the perfect table top. I happened to find a contact on craigslist selling reclaimed wood. Dad met the seller in Salado and picked up to raw pieces of Oak. They were beautiful. They had been cut from the tree trunk that day. Dad found the contact information for Jay online. He agreed to come by to talk through the next adventure of the table. Jay came by our house and walked us through the process that was going to take place. He was going to plain and straight edge the pieces for us so that we could use them for the table top. Jay took the pieces to South Austin to his shop and performed the needed work.
Looking back, the base came from Houston, the top from Salado, it was crafted in South Austin and then assemble in Pflugerville amazes me. Through the process we both learned so much about the craftsmanship and patience it truly takes. Without Jay’s help I wouldn’t have the great memories and beautiful table top I do now.
Now comes the next project, chairs.
